Event Insurance from
John Lewis finance

Get covered for your big event

What events can be covered?

Event Insurance can usually only be taken out to cover events where guests are invited and do not have to pay to attend. Events that are more commercial, specifically ones where payment is to be taken, would not be covered.

If you're organising a party you'll generally only need cover for a day, but some events might last longer. Event Insurance from John Lewis Finance lasts up to three days.

What's covered by event insurance

Event insurance covers problems such as cancellation, damage to equipment and injury to guests.

The cost will depend on the size and scope of the event - each policy is different and you should look for one that suits the event you're holding.

Cancellation and postponement cover - this means you won't lose all the money you’ve spent on an event if it can’t go ahead, for example due to illness, bad weather or issues with the venue. Check the upper limits of the cancellation policy to make sure you are covering the full extent of your costs. Excludes cancellation following death, injury or illness of insured if over the age of 75.

Hiring equipment - if you're hiring equipment for your event, make sure it’s covered in your policy in case it gets damaged or vandalised (we offer marquee cover as an optional extra).

Please note that china and glass, computing equipment, disco equipment and inflatable play equipment are not covered by this policy. Single item limits apply.

Public Liability Cover - if someone hurts themselves at your event, you could be held responsible and face large financial and legal costs. Event Insurance from John Lewis Finance offers you £1 million or £2 million Public Liability Cover. This excludes animals, any person riding animals and any dangerous activities.

Terms, conditions, limitations, exclusions and eligibility criteria apply.
