Buildings insurance explained

What is buildings insurance?
Buildings insurance covers the physical structure of your home, including the walls, roof, floors and permanent fixtures.

Why do I need it?
Your home is probably your biggest financial investment. If it gets damaged, the cost to repair or rebuild it can be significant. This type of insurance helps protect you from that risk.

Examples of what it can cover

  • Repairing storm damage to a roof

  • Fixing walls or floors after a flood

  • Rebuilding parts of your home damaged by fire

Typical policy extensions and add-ons

Extended accidental damage

Protect against accidental damage to your home’s construction, including drains and pipes.

Home emergency cover

In the event of a home emergency, you could have a tradesperson make things safe with a temporary repair.

Legal issues cover

Get access to help with legal problems covered in your policy, including employment, contract and property disputes, as well as assistance with legal costs.
