Health benefits of owning a pet camera
Time away from home is unavoidable. If you are worried about leaving your pet for a few hours, you can easily keep an eye on them using a pet camera.
How can I watch my dog at home from work?
A pet camera lets you watch your dog at home from work, a friend's house or whilst on holiday. All you need is a stable internet connection.
Whether you have a new puppy or kitten or an older dog or cat, a pet camera gives you the ability to watch what your pet is up to. As well as watching what they do, you can also speak to them and give them some love and attention, despite not being in the same room.
What is the best pet camera?
You can make the perfect pet camera simply using a baby monitor and placing it in an appropriate position around the house. Some versions come with two-way audio so you can comfort or chat to your pet when you are out and about.
Often a pet camera (or baby monitor) can be used in conjunction with an app (all of which are available on iOS and Android). These can send you notifications if your pet is barking and needs attention. Some apps even allow you to issue commands or instructions to your dog remotely via a dog monitor.
Safety and security
Ensuring the safety of your pet is one of the biggest advantages of a pet camera as you can easily identify if they are in distress. It can also reduce separation anxiety as it provides the opportunity to communicate with your pets when you're out.
Your pet monitor camera can also double up as a security camera. If the worst happens and there is a break-in, there is video evidence to provide to the police.
Monitoring pet health
Monitoring your pet’s behaviour can be helpful in spotting irregularities and signs of anxiety, such as if your pet is sleeping or scratching a lot more than normal. Watching footage back or in real time can provide you with better insight into their behaviour. You can then flag any issues before they grow and become more problematic.
Show them you care
A camera is a useful way to keep an eye on your pet when you are away from home, and supports you in caring for them throughout the day.
We feel the same way, which is why we have a 24/7 veterinary helpline that you can use for your pet. It's all part of our Pet Insurance as long as you renew your policy annually and there is no break in cover.
