Wedding Insurance from
John Lewis Finance

Wedding insurance provides financial protection
in case things don’t go to plan for your big day.

Booking and paying deposits for things like your venue or wedding dress tends to happen early on in the planning process, so it's best to purchase wedding insurance as soon as you start making plans.

Your policy includes:

Covering cancellation - if one of the immediate wedding party or a close relative falls ill and it's inappropriate to continue the ceremony.

Costs to re-arrange your wedding due to an insured reason (up to similar amount originally budgeted).

Failure of suppliers, from wedding flowers and wedding cake to the wedding transport and ceremonial attire. If any of your suppliers go bust or doesn’t turn up, you could be reimbursed for any deposits you've lost and any additional costs in arranging another equivalent supplier.

Covering re-arrangement if the venue is unavailable due to an insured reason.

Loss or theft of wedding gifts, flowers, cake, rings or outfits.

Failure of wedding photographers including photos unable to be produced due to equipment failure.

Accidental damage to wedding outfits before the wedding, making the outfit unwearable.

Wedding Insurance from John Lewis Finance offers six levels of cover - ranging from £10,000 up to £100,000 - and you can upgrade your cover at any time. Make sure you keep a record of what you’ve spent and that you have a written contract with your suppliers to make sure your policy fully covers the cost of your wedding.

Getting married abroad
Wedding Insurance from John Lewis Finance covers weddings in most places in the world. If you’re getting married abroad just make sure you take out Overseas Wedding Cover in addition to our core Wedding Insurance policies.

Please note, Public Liability Cover does not apply to weddings and wedding receptions taking place in the USA or Canada.

If you're hiring a marquee, Wedding Insurance from John Lewis Finance can cover it against damage or vandalism, and also covers you if you want to have your wedding at home.

Get receipts for everything.

Make a note of when full payment is due for each purchase, so you don’t lose deposits or suppliers.

Confirm everything with suppliers a month before your wedding.

Get supplier recommendations before booking anything.

Keep track of what you’re spending and adjust your wedding insurance accordingly.
